Jakarta, May 20, 2025 – In response to the lack of web accessibility resources in Bahasa Indonesia, accessibility practitioner Rifat Najmi has launched PanduanWCAG.com, a website offering practical guidance based on the international Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)—presented in plain and simple Indonesian.

The site is designed to help designers, developers, and digital teams in Indonesia understand accessibility principles and implement them effectively in their digital projects.

“I've seen many design and tech teams in Indonesia eager to apply accessibility, but they often struggle due to the lack of local references. Panduan WCAG Indonesia bridges that gap,” said Rifat Najmi, a UX practitioner and a member of the IAAP (International Association of Accessibility Professionals).

The launch of the website also coincides with Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), observed annually on the third Thursday of May (May 15, 2025). GAAD is a global campaign to raise awareness about the importance of digital accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities. Through Panduan WCAG Indonesia, the spirit of GAAD is expected to reach even more of Indonesia’s digital community.

Key Features:

  • Clear explanation of WCAG 2.2 criteria in easy-to-understand Bahasa Indonesia.
  • Practical implementation focus for designers and developers.
  • Bookmark and notes feature for personalized tracking of criteria.
  • WCAG 2.2 simulation tool (currently in development).
  • Commitment to support WCAG 3.0 once officially released by W3C.

The site is non-commercial and publicly available for free. With the launch of Panduan WCAG Indonesia, awareness of digital accessibility in Indonesia is expected to grow, leading to wider adoption of inclusive practices.

WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) is an international standard developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to ensure web content is accessible to everyone, including users with disabilities. WCAG contains principles and technical guidance to help developers, designers, and digital creators build inclusive user experiences.

About Panduan WCAG Indonesia

Panduan WCAG Indonesia is an unofficial adaptation of WCAG. It is written in plain Indonesian without altering the technical meaning of the guidelines. Its main purpose is to help more digital practitioners in Indonesia begin adopting accessibility principles.

This guide does not replace the official W3C documentation but serves as a companion to help users understand accessibility in a more practical and contextual way.
